This week David started to transform our entrance garden into his cucumber patch. Because this area used to be part of the driveway, the good dirt is very shallow here, he will be using pots to grow his cukes in.16_515_fj_pots

Catawba

This week there was a gully washer and a fourth of our potato patch, the far end, was washed away.

Our winter rye cover crop got away from us and grew too tall. David started to weed eat it down. First in between the onions and then the area above them where we are going to plant winter squash.

One of the nice things about tunnels is  you can work in them even when it is raining. This week David finished working up the soil in tunnel B and planted our 4th rotation of beans.

Because our tiller died we are digging holes in the ground cover to plant our tomatoes instead of trying to use a mattock to turn the whole patch.16_57_fj_holes
